ManpowerGroup: Generations in the workplace & the impact of Digitisation.

More about this session

Robot workers replacing human jobs – the debate of the decade. In reality, the opposite looks true. Our global survey found that more employers than ever – 87% – plan to increase or maintain headcount as a result of automation, with 83% in Australia. As demand for tech and digital skills grows across all functions and as automation scales and machines prove better at routine tasks; employers are placing increasing value on human skills. By 2020 Millennials will make up over a third of the global workforce. That’s one reason so many reports about them exist. Some say they are disloyal, self-absorbed and lazy, while others claim they’re a generation of digital entrepreneurs and innovators. We will look to dispel a few generational myths and look at how to optimise our intrinsic capabilities as human.

More about this session

What does a rapidly changing world shaped by technology, the rise of tribalism and shifting demographics mean for each of us? How do we stand out? How do we fit in? At every level of society we are constantly searching for how to be better versions of ourselves. And at the same time we still crave connection, belonging and a sense of purpose. No matter how far we have evolved our deepest human emotions still govern us, yet they are rarely understood. Katharina Kuehn draws on her knowledge of neuroscience to discuss human behaviour in the workplace: the hidden fundamentals of human decision making, how unique personality types impact the way we work, and individual and collective team behaviours and decision-making
